Currently I am working as a Production Designer, Art Director, and Graphic Designer in film, TV, Print, and Commercial. I am an active member of 829 and have unique experience working in the more recent mediums of 3d and new media TV. Most recently I Art Directed "Deadbeat" - a TV show for Hulu/Lionsgate produced by Plan B/Dakota starring Tyler Labine and Cat Deeley. Other experience I have includes advertising for NBC Universal, television with Jarrett Creative/Bio and Lifetime networks, music videos with Rik Cordero/three21 and Ghost Robot, and projects connected to talent such as James Spader, Dennis Hopper, Wu-tang, Molly Shannon, Jason Biggs, and Samantha Bee.
My interest in Set Design began in High school. I designed and built our school’s first set for a school play at the age of 15. A Theatre Set Design Director and Professor, attended the play and subsequently offered me a position within a local professional theater association as a part of his Scenic crew. I continued to work for professional theatre associations including an Opera Company, a center for performing arts, and a university theatre program in the Set Building, Props, and Scenic departments for the following 8 years. The experience helped me develop strong carpentry, lighting, and painting skills and an ability to work on large-scale projects. My undergraduate and graduate studies were focused on visual arts – specifically Installation incorporating film and Multimedia art. My undergraduate University focused specifically on problem solving and interdisciplinary studies – a valuable experience that was a perfect foundation for working in film.
Throughout my education I acquired skills in graphic design, film and video editing, and traditional sculptures skills: metal fabrication, including welding, forging and metal casting and ceramics. My artwork and studies lead me to acquire 9 scholarships, 2 awards, 7 solo exhibitions, 22 group exhibitions, and a graduate teaching assistantship. My technical background and interests in contemporary art, photography, and film gives me a broad range of resources for Production and Set design. After I completed an MFA, I went back into set design in Film and found a profession I am passionate about. I truly enjoy the collaborative creative process in film and now work with a large range of companies, projects, and budgets, which continues to underscore my abilities for future creative challenges.
